Dry Needling: Targeted Relief for Muscle Pain & Faster Recovery

Dry needling is the use of acupuncture needles into trigger points in muscles and myo-facial tissues and is an evidence-based technique that involves inserting thin, sterile needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into myofascial trigger points—tight, sensitive knots in muscles and connective tissue.
Key Benefits:
✔ Rapid Pain Relief – Releases muscle tension and reduces spasms almost instantly.
✔ Accelerates Healing – Stimulates blood flow and tissue repair in injured areas.
✔ Restores Function – Improves flexibility, strength, and movement patterns.
✔ Gentler Than Deep Tissue Work – Many patients find it more comfortable and less painful.
What should I feel?
Generally, needle insertion should be no pain or slightly painful; the local twitch response or sudden slight contraction of the muscle may provoke a very brief pain response. This has been described as an ‘electric shock’ or a ‘cramping’ sensation. A therapeutic response occurs with the elicitation of local twitch responses and that is a good and desirable reaction. Most patients find this little strange rather than painful. Patients might experience mild muscle soreness up to 24-48 hrs post treatment.
